IMAP – Internet Message Access Protocol, as its name suggests enables users to access their IMAP enabled user account email messages from any location at any time, provided they have access to internet connection because the emails residing on servers. Whenever users open their desktop based email application to read messages, it will contact the server for new messages. When email account is configured with IMAP protocol, the message will not get downloaded, instead it is being read from the server. This is the only reason why users can easily check their email messages from various devices, without them getting deleted from the server.

When you run CubexSoft Email Backup to backup an IMAP-supported account then it will ask the users to enter the required IMAP account Username, Password, IMAP Host and IMAP Port number. Although, the utility is programmed in such a way that it automatically detects IMAP port number. But for this, users need to provide their IMAP host names. Every Email Service has its own IMAP Host server which can be easily obtained from its IMAP Configuration settings.
Once you have found your IMAP Host name for your Email Service then simply insert the same into the utility panel as described in below screenshots:
Step-1. Run CubexSoft Email Backup Tool & then choose IMAP Server option from source Email list.
Step-2. Now you need to enter Email Account Credentials as well IMAP details. Each Email Service has its own IMAP Host like Gmail has imap.gmail.com and IMAP Port Number as 993.
IMAP is the standard email protocol that provides flexibility to its users to access, open, view, read, manage and organize emails without downloading them to their system. Additionally, the server keeps record of the messages sent by a user, in order to enable them to access those messages from any location. Users must clear one thing that IMAP doesn’t store email messages to or from computer. It simply synchronizes the emails of your computer with the emails on the server.
